Is coaching right for you?

Choose Coaching When You Need Expert Guidance—While You Build the Case

Coaching is designed for professionals who remain responsible for developing the business case but want experienced support to focus their effort, test their thinking and avoid preventable gaps or rework.

You Are Framing the Case

Clarify the decision request, strategic context, stakeholders and the pathway for developing your business case.

You Have a Draft to Strengthen

Identify the sections that are working, uncover the critical gaps and prioritise what needs further evidence or analysis.

You Need Help with Difficult Analysis

Work through questions about options, benefits, financial evaluation, risks, implementation or the recommendation.

You Are Preparing for Review

Strengthen the executive story, anticipate decision-maker questions and prepare the case for executive, CFO or board consideration.

Coaching is collaborative. Craig provides guidance, challenge and feedback; you retain ownership of the evidence, validation, organisational decisions and final business case.

How coaching can help

Focus Your Coaching on the Areas That Matter Most

Every business case is different. Your coaching can concentrate on one immediate challenge or connect several areas that need to work together before the case is ready for decision-maker consideration.

Decision and Strategic Alignment

Clarify the approval being sought and connect the opportunity to the organisation's priorities, objectives and case for change.

Options and Recommendation

Structure the options analysis, test the evaluation criteria and make the rationale for the preferred option easier to follow.

Benefits and Financial Analysis

Strengthen the benefits logic, assumptions, costs, cash flows and financial measures required to support the investment decision.

Risks and Deliverability

Examine the major risks, dependencies, implementation approach and evidence that the recommended option can be delivered.

Executive Summary and Writing

Improve the structure, clarity and persuasiveness of the case so decision-makers can understand the recommendation and supporting logic.

Presentation and Stakeholder Questions

Prepare the key messages, supporting presentation and responses to the questions executives, finance leaders or board members may raise.

A focused session—not a generic lesson. At the beginning of each session, we agree the priorities and concentrate on the issues with the greatest impact on the quality and approval readiness of your business case.

How coaching works

A Focused Process Before, During and After Each Session

The process is designed to make effective use of your time. We begin with the business case you are developing, focus the conversation on your priorities and finish with clear actions for moving the work forward.

Before the session

Define the Priority

Identify the business case, decision or section you want to progress. Where appropriate, provide relevant background material and your key questions before the session.

  • Your current draft, outline or analysis
  • The decision and approval timeline
  • The issues where you need guidance

During the session

Work Through the Challenge

In a live 60-minute online session, we agree the priorities, examine the relevant evidence and logic, and work through the questions that are holding the business case back.

  • Targeted questions and constructive challenge
  • Practical guidance applied to your case
  • Clear feedback on gaps and next steps

After the session

Apply the Agreed Actions

Use the discussion and feedback to refine the analysis, strengthen the case and complete the agreed actions. For multi-session coaching, the next session can build on this progress.

  • A clearer direction for progressing the case
  • Prioritised actions and decisions to resolve
  • A stronger foundation for the next stage

Frequently asked questions

Questions About Business Case Coaching

Learn how the coaching works, what to bring and how to choose the level of support that best suits your business case.

Who is business case coaching for?

Coaching is for professionals who are developing, reviewing or strengthening a business case and want expert guidance on a real piece of work. It can help whether you are at the beginning of the process, working through the analysis or preparing the case for executive, CFO or board consideration.

Do I need to have a completed business case?

No. You can begin with an opportunity, an early concept, an outline or a working draft. The coaching will focus on the decisions and analysis needed at your current stage and help you define a clear path forward.

What can we work on during a coaching session?

The session can focus on the areas creating the greatest challenge or approval risk. These may include the decision ask, strategic alignment, options, benefits, financial analysis, risks, implementation planning, recommendations or the structure and presentation of the business case.

How should I prepare for the session?

Before the session, identify the outcome you want to achieve and gather the most relevant background material. This could include a draft business case, briefing note, financial model, options analysis or feedback from decision-makers. You do not need to have every answer before coaching begins.

Should I book one session or a three-session package?

One session is suitable when you have a defined issue, need an expert perspective or want help deciding the next step. Three sessions provide continuity across the development process, with time to complete work, test the analysis and strengthen the case between sessions.

Will you write the business case for me?

Coaching helps you develop and strengthen your own business case; it is not a business case writing service. If you need Chase Consulting to review, develop or write the case, we can discuss whether a consulting engagement would be more appropriate.

Will the coaching guarantee that my business case is approved?

No adviser can guarantee an approval decision. Coaching is designed to improve the clarity, evidence, logic and approval readiness of your business case. The final decision remains with your organisation's decision-makers.

Will my business case information remain confidential?

Your business information will be treated professionally and confidentially. If your organisation requires a confidentiality or non-disclosure agreement before sharing sensitive material, please raise this before the session so the requirements can be discussed.
